JOYCE ANN EVANS
Joyce Ann Evans, 80, passed away on September 1, 2020 in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Joyce was born on November 4, 1939 in Clarksburg, MO, the only child to Golder Bruce and Wilma (Pardoe) Bruce. She attended Southeast High School and married Bill Evans on June 13, 1959 in Kansas City. They were the proud parents of a son, Chuck, and a daughter, Sherri.
Joyce worked on the shipping line at the Avon distribution center as well as in the warehouses of JC Penney, Venture, and Hallmark, but her greatest achievement was being a wife and mom. She volunteered her time as a room mother when her children were in school and made sure they got to every single sports practice and dance lesson. She learned how to make the best pork roast, lemon cake, and cinnamon rolls from her mother and her husband.
Her free time was spent shopping for clothes at the malls and gifts for her family and friends… you could say that she had a keen eye for bargains on the clearance racks! She also enjoyed reading magazines, watching television, or playing the slot machines with Bill at the casino. She took many trips to Las Vegas throughout the years, and her 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated with Bill at Caesar’s Palace. Joyce was a beautiful, tenderhearted woman whose love and pride of her family knew no bounds.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill Evans; son Chuck Evans (wife Debbie); daughter Sherri Duman (husband Mark); and grandchildren Katie, Dylan, and Dustin.
She was preceded in death by her parents Golder and Wilma Bruce; and one grandson Tyler Evans.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7pm Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence.
The family is forever appreciative of the care and support shown to them by Ascend Hospice shown to Joyce in her final days.
In her honor, contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
