Kathy L. Evans (Butler)

November 7, 1953 — January 21, 2020

Kathy Lynn Butler-Evans, 66, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 21st, 2020. Kathy was born in Columbia Missouri on November 7th, 1953 to Col. James L. Butler Jr III and Betty S. Butler of Dixon Missouri. Before the age of ten she had lived in 10 different states and 3 different countries moving often as her father was stationed and restationed where he was most needed by the Air Force. She showed a true gift for drawing and sculpting at a very young age along with a beautiful singing voice and a love of gospel music. At 18 she was a proud member of the Belleview "Bell-Air's" both vocally and accompanying them on the piano, a brilliant artist and beauty queen who would often hang one of her own creations of art behind her as she led the audience on a an edge-of-their-seat journey with a dramatic reading for her talent portion of the beauty pageants she competed in. Once crowned Miss Belleview, she was the 1st runner up for Miss Nebraska in 1972 and she blew all competition away when it came to her beauty, both inside and out, in the eyes of her daughters long past her tiara wearing days. Kathy's eccentricities knew no bounds especially when it came to hair bows, and Halloween costumes for the girls, garlic on every delectable item she whipped up and her passion for the Lord. Her voice was known to ring from dusk till dawn and all throughout Jackson County, MO. as she witnessed to friends, family and the lucky guy next to her in line at HyVee. Her abundance of love both for the Lord and for every other living thing she encountered (even the deer and squirrels that reeked havoc in her breathtaking gardens), her unyielding faith in the Holy Bible, her compassion for every stranger she "never met", and her ability to truly give that comforts the family she is now survived by. So while she is dancing up in Heaven and catching up on time with her Mom, her daughters; Nichole George and Ashley Land, son-in-law Brian Land and grandson forever; Weston Avery Land, father; Jim Butler and wife Betty, and sister; Mona Wachsler and husband Steve would like to thank you for being part of her journey here on earth. "Oh? C'est la vie!" ~Kathy
