Leroy Evans

LeRoy E. Evans, 62, of Independence, MO, passed away, Monday, August 20, 2007 at his residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends following the services in the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the MS Society. LeRoy was born November 2, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Everett and Mildred (Saddler) Evans and had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was an auto mechanic for 40 years, working at Broadway-Marcus Allen Ford for the last 26 years. After retirement in December 2006, he worked part-time at the Blue Springs Bike Stop performing bicycle mechanics. Bicycling was his passion and favorite hobby. Mr. Evans constructed the recumbent bicycles on which he rode at least 2000 miles annually. He rode in the MS150 every year from almost the first ride done in Missouri and was scheduled to ride this year, September 8th & 9th. LeRoy never knew a stranger and would do anything that he could to help a friend. He is survived by a son, Randy Alan Evans of California and an aunt Roberta Maxine Evans of Liberty, MO; and many dear friends.
