Robert W. Evans, Sr., 73 of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, May 21, 2006 at his lake home in Sunrise Beach, MO. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Bob was born December 29, 1932 in Independence, MO to Alfred M. and Lucille G. (Bowman) Evans and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked for 37 years for TWA retiring in 1992 as an Avionics Supervisor. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict having served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-56. Bob was a man who enjoyed all types of flight including radio controlled planes, working on cars of all types, he enjoyed the mountains, hiking and skiing and water sports. He was married to Margaret (Neal) Evans on June 6, 1953, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; children, Carol Martin and her husband Bill; and Bob Evans and his wife Teresa; a grandson, Jason VanNatta and granddaughter Cara Arnold and husband Matt; step grandsons, James Martin and wife Christy, Chris Martin and wife Jane and Matt Martin; step great grandsons, Jack Martin, Dayton Meier and Jake Meier; a brother, Roger Evans and his wife Carol; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Evans and Marilyn Evans and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ron and Richard Evans and a nephew Chris Evans. Donations may be made to the Save a Connie Fund at the Aircraft History Museum hanger 9 201 N.W.
