Roshell Lynae Ewens, 45, of Golden City, MO passed away Friday, August 24, 2007 at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO after complications following treatments for Leukemia. A service celebrating her life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 pm. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Roshell Ewens Memorial Fund c/o Lamar Bank & Trust. Roshell was born January 2, 1962 in Clinton, MO to Rev. Robert Cass and Shelby Jean (Towsley) Ewens. She graduated from Lake View Woods State School in Lee’s Summit in 1983. Roshell was employed as a worker in sheltered workshops, Southeast Workshop in eastern Kansas City, Clinco Industries in Cameron, MO, Northwest MO Industries in Rock Port, MO, the Ewing Vocational Center in Sedalia, MO, the Carthage Sheltered Workshop in Carthage, MO and the last four years, Lamar Industries in Lamar, MO. She was a Girl Scout and a Special Olympian, competing in track and field, basketball and cheerleading, and a member of the MO team to the 1979 International Special Olympics in Brockport, NY. Rochell loved to bowl, to work word search puzzles, to solve her Rubic Cube, and to travel with her parents. Miss Ewens was a member of the Seekers Sunday School class of Golden City United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO. Roshell is survived by her parents; sister Robin Jean Gilbert; niece Mary Gilbert; nephew John Gilbert; aunts Sylvia Eldredge and Sandra Perusich; uncle Stanley Towsley and aunt Cindy.
