Vera Fern (Conkright) Ewing, 92, of Blue Springs, MO was called to join her husband and son in their heavenly home, November 2, 2004. Services will be 2 pm Saturday, November 6th at Carson-Speaks Midtown Chapel; with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice who helped to make her last days on this earth bearable for her and her family. Vera was born October 7, 1912 in Hoisington, KS to George and Grace Conkright. She married Ernest Ewing April 11, 1930. They lived in Kansas City, before moving to Independence in 1947, then to Blue Springs in 1994. She has lived with her daughter, Janell and son-in-law Don for the past 15 years. After retirement Vera and Ernest traveled all over the United States, spending their winters in the Brownsville, TX area. Later, Vera and her daughter Jean visited the Holy Land, Ireland, Germany, and many other countries before she became unable to travel. Vera was a member of Michigan Avenue/Noland Road Baptist Church for 70 years, and the Young at Heart at that church. She was a cancer survivor, devoted wife and loving mother to her family who thanked God for each day she was with them. Vera enjoyed ceramic, china, and oil painting; knitting, sewing, and cooking, especially Dad�s pies. Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ernest; her son Philip Gary 5; her granddaughter, Sarah Pierce 32; her sister, Marie McKay; and brother, Raymond Conkright. Vera is survived by her daughters, Jean Hyde, Janell Gramlich and husband Don of Blue Springs, MO, Mavis Gippner and husband Mick of Lee�s Summit, MO; brother, Floyd Conkright and wife Aleen of Overland Park, KS; sister Florence Spiegel and husband Charles of Topeka, KS; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Vera was a beautiful lady, dedicated to her family and friends. She lived every day to the fullest and will be sadly missed by everyone that loved her so much.
