Donald W. Fagan, 83, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 9, 2011.
Don was born in Gower, Missouri, June 30, 1927, one of two children to William and Maude Fagan. His brother, Dwayne, was 18 months older. The family moved to a farm Northeast of Clarksdale when he was three. He attended Pleasant Grove, a one room country school, and graduated from Clarksdale High School. Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married Mary Ivie on August 1, 1948. This was the beginning of a life-long love. They were married for 54 years before Mary's passing on November 27, 2002.
To this union two children were born, Stephen Fagan (Linda) of Stewartsville, MO and Sue Winship (Jeff), of Oak Grove, MO. Don was very proud of his 4 grandchildren: David Winship (Danielle) of Liberty, Mary K. Oglesby (Jason) of Oak Grove, Mark Fagan, King City, and Michael Fagan, Stewartsville. He also had 3 great-grandchildren: Kayla and Madison Oglesby and Codin Winship.
Don and Mary farmed for 40 years in the Stewartsville area before moving to Oak Grove, MO in 1989. Don continued his love of “growing things” even after retiring from farming, as his garden produce was legendary among his family and friends. Don became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1949. He served as an Elder in the church and pastor of the Stewartsville congregation for many years. He also served in the Buckner and Grain Valley congregations. Don was a faithful servant of the Lord throughout his life, always willing to help others.
The family will receive friends at the Community of Christ Church; 908 Clinton St., Stewartsville, MO at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13th at the Stewartsville Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions to Outreach International.
