Barbara Jean Fanara, 76, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away at her home May 16, 2016. Services will be at noon, Sat., May 21 at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee's Summit, MO 64064; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 am before the service at church. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th Street

Barbara was born Oct. 5, 1939 in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Northeast High School in the Class of 1957. She began her career as an interior decorator in 1968 when she joined Home Interiors and Gifts. Over the next twenty-nine years Barbara served as Branch Manager and then Regional Vice-President. She was a personal and professional role model to thousands of women. She was on the Boards of Directors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Concerned Women of America. She was a long-time member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a speaker at FCA Girls Camps. She and her husband, Sal, enjoyed square dancing for thirty-two years but most of all she loved her family and grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her husband Sal Fanara and daughter Renae Fanara, both of the home; sons Mike Fanara, Lee’s Summit, MO; Mark Fanara and wife Melanie, Blue Springs, MO; Steve Fanara and wife Lesley, Brownwood, TX; sister Donna Blair and husband Mike Willis, Independence, MO; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
