May 15, 1932 — June 6, 2013

May Fangmann, 81, of Oak Grove, MO passed away Thursday, June 6th 2013. A visitation will be held from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9th at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th Street, Independence. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10th at Messiah Lutheran Church; 613 S Main Street, Independence. Interment will be 3:00 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Higginsville, MO.
May was born May 15, 1932 in Houstonia, MO to Gerd Henry and Lydia (Steffens) Eckhoff. May came from a large family of brothers and sisters. She married Neal D. Fangmann (her beloved for 61 years) on July 31st, 1951 in Sweet Springs, MO. May was a homemaker and volunteered at her church and at the Senior Craft Shop in Independence. Neal and May have been faithful members of Messiah Lutheran Church for 55 years. Together, they have four sons. Family was something she was truly devoted to and cherished. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, camping with friends, and most of all, playing cards with Neal. May is loved and will surely be missed.
She is survived by her husband Neal, of the home, Oak Grove, MO; sons, Glen (Beverly) of Oak Grove, MO; Dennis (Kathy) of St. Louis, MO; Gary (Shelly) of Cleveland, GA; Bruce (Becky) of Oak Grove, MO; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy Fangmann of Oak Grove, MO; Kristin Liles (Chris) of Mayview, MO; Nathan Fangmann (Maggie) of Magna, UT; Jacob Fangmann (Kelli) of Bolivar, OH; Molly Capistrant (Ty) of Atlanta, GA; Haley Fangmann of Athens, GA; Levi and Joel Fangmann of Cleveland, GA; Mark, Bryce, and Ryan Fangmann of Oak Grove, MO; three great grandchildren, Taylor and Isabella Fangmann of Bolivar, OH; Micah Capistrant of Atlanta, GA; brother, Russell Eckhoff (Goldie); sisters, Lorine Crane, Clara Cordes, and Ruth Cadell (Melvin); and many nieces and nephews. May was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Esther Polk, brothers, Lawrence, Elmer, and Gerd Eckhoff. In lieu of flowers the family encourages contributions to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141.
