Eugene “Gene” Fedo, 83, Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday August 14, 2012. Cremation is planned with a celebration of Gene’s life at 4:00 p.m. Sunday August 19, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time Sunday at the chapel. Gene was born December 13, 1928 in Independence, MO to James Nicholas and Frances Julia (Zimmel) Fedo and has been a lifelong area resident. Gene enjoyed gardening, cooking, hunting, boating and fishing at the lake, and was an accomplished home builder and had built all of the family homes. He had worked as an installer for then Southwestern Bell, later AT&T and Lucent Technologies until he retired as a supervisor in 1984. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ravenna “Rae” Fedo on May 14, 2012. Survivors include; children, Greg Fedo and wife Patti; Todd Fedo and wife Denise; Gloria Alvey; Rhonda Skivers and husband Roy; and Brett Fedo and wife Melanie; a sister, Evelyn Riordan of Shawnee, KS; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
