Bert N. Felter, 77 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday morning, June 12, 2012 at Rosewood Health Center. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. A private graveside service will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Garden. Donations may be made in his name to The Groves Community Hospice or to The Groves 1515 W. White Oak, Independence, MO 64050. Bert was born October 30, 1934 in Neodesha, KS to Justice D. and Georgia Marie (Willsey) Felter. He spent his early life in Neodesha, graduated from public schools there before attending Independence, KS junior college, Pittsburg State College, CMSU and UMKC, graduating with a master’s in education. He proudly served in the US Army from 1957-59. He had worked for a number of years as a mail processor at the downtown Kansas City, MO post office before he retired and was a member of the Postal Worker’s Union. He is survived by; a sister-in-law, Shirley Felter of Independence, MO; 2 nephews, Dr. Rick Miller and wife Jane of Shawnee, KS and Monte Miller of Emporia, KS and a niece Terri Lowry.
