Dean R. Ferguson, 76, Independence, MO passed away peacefully Jan. 19, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10 am, Wed, Jan. 25 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday at the chapel with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Shriner’s Hospitals, c/o Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, K.C., MO 64129.
Dean was born in Independence, MO on Aug. 21, 1935 to Frank & Ruth Ferguson. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1953 and earned his Associates degree from Findley College. He was the owner of his own construction Company Design Development, Inc. in addition to being a real estate broker and auctioneer. He was very active in our community and was a member of many civic organizations: Masons McDonald Lodge #324 AF & AM, Ararat Shrine Temple, Eagles #3717, Eastern Star #329, Scottish Rite of Kansas City, Independence York Rite, Ararat Antique Auto Club, Ararat Tribesman Club (Boy Scouts), and the Vintage Thunderbird Club.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, the mother of his six children Louise Ferguson and son Dean R. Ferguson, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-five years Virginia Ferguson; children Cynthia Howerton; David Ferguson; Donald Ferguson; Cathryn Hertlein; Michael & Sandy Dibble; Kimberly & Andy Marsh; Elizabeth Ann Ferguson; thirty-two grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Frank Tuttle; numerous nieces and nephews all who adored their uncle and many great friends. He will be greatly missed.
