Dr. Rowena R. Ferguson of Independence, MO went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 27, 2013. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Wed. Oct. 2 with a Celebration of Life, following the visitation at 7 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055.
She was born May 17, 1946 and was preceded in death by her parents Frank William Ferguson and Una Jean Wright; sisters Rhonda and Refa Ferguson, and daughter Bonnie Lull.
Rowena leaves to cherish her memory two sons Rodney Galloway and wife Lori of Statesville, NC, Frank Foster and wife Rita of Independence, MO; brothers Joe Ferguson and wife Pam of Lee’s Summit, MO; Lacy Ferguson and wife Trudy of Buckner, MO; grandchildren Charles Daily; Kellie Posey and husband Timothy; Kaylee Lull; Dalton Foster; great-grandchildren Riley Sterling, Emma Posey, Gage and Teagan Patrick; one uncle Frank Tuttle; one aunt Virginia Ferguson; many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Dr. Ferguson was President/Director of the Christian Bible College and Seminary in Independence, MO with 5,000 plus students. Rowena traveled to many locations throughout the US and internationally, such as Korea, as a Commencement Speaker. Her Educational Accomplishments included an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts in Religion. She also received five Doctoral Degrees; Doctor of Business Administration, Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Counseling Psychology, Doctor of Religious Education, Doctor of Theology and Doctor of Ministry in Christian Counseling and Education. Rowena was bestowed her Certification of Ordination by the American Mission Teams Evangelistic Organization. Her achievements as an Educational and Civic Leader included, membership in the Gospel Center Ministries; Missouri and National Association of Legal Services; National Notary Association; Association of Christian Counselors; Who’s Who among Students in Executives and Professionals; and Beta Sigma Phi International.
As a Great Visionary and Woman of God, Rowena was truly an inspiration to whomever she came in contact with, and will be forever remembered for her cheerful, unrelenting spirit.
