Leila Ferguson

November 11, 1923 — September 1, 2013

Leila Mae Ferguson, 89, Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at her home.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Leila was born November 11, 1923 in Seneca, MO the daughter of Grover and Liddie (Tosh) Cox. She was baptized at a young age at Swars Prairie Baptist Church, in Seneca, MO. She worked for the Osteopathic Hospital in Kansas City and later at Burger King in Independence. Leila enjoyed traveling, camping, raising her grandchildren and especially family events.

Survivors include her son, Robert Ferguson and wife Patty; daughters, Pam Ferguson, Voneita Ferguson and companion Larry, Karon Smith and husband Michael, Brenda Locascio and husband Russ; grandchildren, Lisa Rickett, Kenny Hall, Stephanie Evans, Christopher Ferguson, Crystal Shields, Amy Xiloj, Sarah Smith, and Christina Sullivan; 18 great grandchildren and additional nieces, nephews and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ferguson; daughter, Pat Harrison; sons, James Arthur, Allan, and Jimmie Ferguson; sisters, Gladys Robinson, Blanche Rickard and her identical twin sister, Leola Carrick.
