Robert L. Ferguson, 83, of Independence, MO passed away on June 24, 2006 at the Carmel Hills Living Center. A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Robert was preceded in death by one brother; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Frances Ferguson; one daughter, Cheryl Flowers and husband Randy of Independence, MO; three sons, The Reverend Steve Ferguson and wife Greta of Independence, MO, Michael Ferguson of Odessa, MO and Thomas and wife Kay Ferguson of Odessa, MO; one brother and one sister of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and his first great great grandchild to be born in October. Robert was born on April 16, 1923 in Independence, MO to Frank and Ruth Ferguson. During WWII, he served as a Sergeant with the Military Police Corps. Robert was an accomplished civil engineer, and his jobs included working for the Corps of Engineers on the Big Thompson Water Shed in Colorado; Maine Engineering of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Hare & Hare of Kansas City, MO; and George Butler and Associates, where he was a senior engineer on the following projects: Harry S. Truman Sports Complex, Kansas City, MO; Sheraton Royal (now Adams Mark/Clarion) Hotel; and the I-70 South Outer Road, Blue Springs, MO. He was a member of the Eastview Lions Club, where he served two separate terms as president, and was a past chairman for the Leader Dogs for the Blind.
