Robert Edward Ferwalt, 85, passed away early morning of October 7, 2021, under medical care at the Rosewood Care facility and Centerpoint Medical Center. During this time, Robert was in the 2nd stage of Alzheimer’s.
Robert was born on May 12, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was one of nine children, siblings: Bill, John, Harry, Dorothy, Scotty, Mary Ann, Joe, and Donna. They were raised on Lexington Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. Robert was a very hard worker learning to help with responsibility early on, he and his sister, Dorothy helped cook and clean as they endured the passing of their mother at their young age.
When Robert became of age, he joined the United States Marines, setting off on adventures that took him on tour of duty. He served abroad in Korea, at the time of his discharge, and was held over for the Cuban Missile Crisis. Robert served as a tank mechanic. He received four Good Conduct medals and Recognition for Veteran of Foreign War. He qualified as a sharpshooter. Robert left the military and went to work at Ford Motor Company for 32 years, before retiring in 1995. He continued to work security as long as his health permitted.
Robert spent many years of service within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served alongside many great people who strengthened his faith in the Lord.
Robert has 8 children, Marjorie, Rose, Juanita, Robert, Jeff, Jennifer, Kim, and Angela. He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be terribly missed by those who survive him.
A visitation to honor Robert will be held on Friday, October 15, from 12-1 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow, at 1 p.m., both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W.
