Harold Glen Fickel, Sr., 88 of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Village Care Hospice. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Harold was born April 28, 1924 in Clearwater, NE to Charles N. and Callie E. (Jones) Fickel. His family relocated to Independence, MO where he graduated from William Chrisman High School. He then proudly served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. On September 12, 1947 he married Lois G. Carlile and they made their home in Independence where Harold had worked for the Whirlpool Corporation for 30 years until he retired in 1985 as the District Service Manager. After his retirement they moved to Clinton, MO where he pursued his love of flying their private airplane. He was a former member of the Walnut Park RLDS in Independence, MO for 40 years and has been a member of the Restoration Branch of Adrian, MO for the last 10 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois of the home; a daughter, Connie Smith and her husband Kelley of Independence, MO; 3 grandsons, Steven, Christopher and Jeffrey Smith; 3 great grandchildren, Hailey, Kaitlyn and David Smith; a niece, Kathryn Villani and a nephew Andrew Fickel. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Glen Fickel, Jr. in 2002, his parents and 2 brothers, Newton and Charles Fickel.
