Mervin Fields, 80, of Independence, Missouri died April 20, 2006 at Independence Regional Health Center.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 24th at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, Missouri. He was born on April 23, 1925 in Independence the son of Leslie and Elvie Danner Fields. Mervin was a veteran of the Navy and served as a Pharmacist Mate with the Second Marine Corps. He was a retired Produce Manager from the A & P in 1985 after over 30 years of service. Mervin loved gardening . He and his wife were charter members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church where he also served as a Deacon. He played for the Ace of Clubs Baseball Team and managed the 3-2 League for many years.
Mervin also enjoyed attending the Chrisman Alumni Coffee Club. Mervin married Betty June McDonald who preceded him in death on March 1, 2000. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Leslie Jean Watley. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Fields, and by a brother Lawrence Fields and his wife Billy all of Independence, Mo. and by three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church.100 N. Pleasant, Independence, Mo. 64050. Carson-Speaks Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
