Vera, age 97, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023.
She was born on May 19, 1925, in Marceline, Missouri, a small rural community. Upon high school graduation, she moved to Ft Madison, Iowa, where she worked at the Schaefer Pen Company, At age 22, she met and married Daniel Fields, they were married for 68 years. While Daniel was in the military for 20 years, they traveled and lived throughout the United States and completed a tour of duty for three years in France.
Vera loved her work in insurance as an underwriter and working for various contractors. She was very proud of her time working on the line to help assemble B-24 bomber planes during WWII as well. In her retirement years, she enjoyed playing Bridge and Pinocle with friends. She loved beautiful flowers and being outdoors. She was very patriotic and always loved to see military men in uniform. And most important to her was her family, especially loved celebrating holidays together.
Mrs. Fields is survived by her children, Janet Fields and Denise DiNapoIi; and grandchild, Antonia (Daniel) Winstead.
A funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. Burial will follow at 1pm at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery.
