Maximiliano, or (“Don Max”) as he was affectionately called by loved ones, was born on June 24th of the Taraumara Indigenous community of Nararachik Chihuahua, (Mexico).
Upon birth “Don Max” was named by his birth parents “Juan Ochoa”. However, Max’s father passed away when he was a year old, and his mother also died when he was eight.
However on the same day that Max’s mother was buried, he wondered down a river with another young boy only to end up in El Paso Texas where Max was found by a special woman Petra Fierro who eventually became his adoptive mother. Upon seeing Max, this woman asked him to help her cut the grass. When her husband Simon Fierro came home she told him that they had inherited another son. One year later, they adopted him and gave him the name “Maximiliano Fierro”.
Later on Max became a Kansas City resident where he worked for Stevenson’s Orchard, while he also lived there the past 50 years. He was happily married several times and eventually became a father to two sons and one daughter Carmen Fierro by whom he is survived. However Max was well known in many places and had made many friends who truly became his family.
However, Max’s life changed forever just 4 years ago at the age of 86 when he began to study the bible. He learned many of the bible’s promises including the true condition of the dead and the hope that this gives us. Max was so excited to learn these things that he would talk to anyone who would listen to him, and especially to his friends.
Max demonstrated his faith in what he had learned publicly by way of baptism on April 21st 2013, therefore dedicating his life to Jehovah God.
Thereafter, Max was very faithful in his service attending every meeting possible, many times even while being sick. He would also participate regularly in the field ministry with great zeal, and he would greatly encourage his spiritual brothers and sisters by his comments at congregation meetings and personal encouragement to serve Jehovah obediently.
Only two months ago, Max joyfully gave his final bible reading assignment at a congregation meeting despite being very sick and heading to the hospital shortly later the same night.
However, upon learning of his terminal illness Max insisted that for a certainty he did not have to fear death due to the hope he had learned about from the bible and shared with others.
Max passed away peacefully and faithful to the end on Thursday morning September 19, 2013 but grateful to Jehovah God for giving him the opportunity to learn about him and his promises.
