Geneva Fimple (84) Independence MO passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday July 12, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation proceeding at 9 a.m. A graveside inurnment service will be at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
Geneva was the daughter of Clarence and Verna (Finley) Steele. Mrs. Fimple was born January 9, 1928, in Sedalia, MO and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School. She later graduated from Central Business College. In 1950 Geneva married Emmett “Bud” Fimple and moved to Kansas City area where they raised their two daughters. She retired from Marley Cooling Tower Co. in 1987.
Geneva enjoyed antiques, ceramics, riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband and playing marbles with family and friends. She was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church for many years.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Juanita Huffman; one brother, Clarence “LeRoy” Steele; and nephew, Brian Steele. She is survived by her husband Emmett of the home; daughters, Lorri A. Shuey and husband Larry of Peculiar, MO; Sharri B. Sparks of Independence, MO; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister Doris Langton and husband Hugh, Florence, OR; two brothers, John Steele and wife Margaret, Blue Springs, MO; Don Steele and wife Melinda, Kempner, TX; and sister-in-law Charlotte Steele, Blue Springs, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their thanks to Dr. Authur Brock, and his nurse Marie, Dr. Larry Rosen and Valerie, as well as, Kansas City Hospice House and their kind and compassionate staff.
