Doris Irene Finkelstein

Doris Irene Finkelstein, 81 of Independence, MO passed away on Thur. Oct 2, 2003. Services will be 10 am, Monday, Oct 6, 2003 at the Rockwood Baptist Church. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Because of her heart for young children, the family request in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald house C/O Heart of America, INC, 2501 Cherry Street, Kansas City, MO 64108. Mrs. Finkelstein was born on May 19, 1922 to Howard and Stella Kissee and was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. She was married to Martin Finkelstein in 1947 and together they had four children. Mrs. Finkelstein retired from Sears and Roebuck and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence and had been an active member in her Sunday School Class, Vota Vita. The Kissee, Finkelstein, Stone, Kelsey and Firkins families were active members of Rockwood Baptist Church for many decades. Mrs. Finkelstein was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 1973. By her parents, her sisters, Jeanette Kissee, Virginia Stone, Delaine Kelsey and brother Jack Kissee. She is survived by her four children, Debbie Finkelstein of Bethesda, MD, Mark Finkelstein of Independence, Jeffrey Finkelstein and his wife Mary Carl and by David Finkelstein and his wife Sherry, all of Plano, TX. One sister, Jean Firkins Easter of Independence, MO, eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
