Coleta Jean Firkins

Coleta Jean Firkins, 66, of Independence, MO, passed away, Saturday, April 17, 2004 at her residence. Services 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2004 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday at the chapel. Coleta was born July 22, 1937 in Stone County, AR to Alfred and Verlie (Berry) Peachee. She spent her early life in Arkansas before moving to the Kansas City area in 1955, where she met Harold Firkins and later married him on October 31, 1956. Coleta worked as a homemaker raising 2 children, and working part-time at the Heritage house and for a short time at Montgomery Wards. She was a member of the Atherton Restoration Branch. She is survived by her husband Harold of the home; 2 sons, Doug Firkins and his wife Kathy of Leslie, AR and Darcy Firkins of Independence; her mother Verlie Peachee of Fairfield, AR; a sister, Betty Atchley of Kingfisher, OK; a brother, Frank Peachee of Fox, AR and 2 grandchildren, Clay and Wes Firkins of Leslie, AR. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Peachee.
