Nellie May Fishell, 82 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Season’s Memory Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to Central Assembly of Independence, 1009 W. 23rd St. South, Independence, MO 64055. Nellie was born January 12, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to Ralph and Elva Joy (Compher) Hagerman. She had worked for a number of years for Gospel Tract from 1972 until she retired in 1989. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed painting ceramic Indian pieces, jigsaw puzzles, bowling and writing. Her true passion was being a caregiver for babies. She volunteered her time in daycares and other facilities caring for babies. She was a member of Central Assembly of Independence and was in the Women’s Ministry and active in the church camp programs. Survivors include; 5 children, Mary L. Archer and husband Michael of Independence, MO, Nancy Norris and husband Bob of Tonganoxie, KS, Dianne Lockhart and husband Travis of Kansas City, MO, Tim Fishell of Independence, MO and Paul Fishell and wife Jalaine of Belton, MO; 2 sisters, Naomi Williams and Mary Ann Pulliam of Nevada, MO; a brother, George Hagerman of Bronaugh, MO; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Fishell in 1999, a son, Jerry Fishell in 2011, an infant daughter, Connie Fishell and 3 brothers, R.T., Roy and Johnny Hagerman.
