Richard “Dick” Fisher, 67, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30th at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Dick was born July 12, 1946 in Kansas City, MO as the youngest of three to Mildred Aleen (Cooley) and Riley Silas Fisher. He graduated from Van Horn High School and participated in Boy Scouts earning his Eagle Scout and advancing through the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Dick worked for Ford Motor Company on their assembly line for over 30 years. Dick married his beloved high school sweetheart Judy (Colvin) in 1967 and together they raised two boys. He was an active member of the Independence Jaycees and also Vice President during the 70’s. Dick was actively involved with his boys’ sports, coaching football and baseball for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, being on the water, and helping neighborhood kids with their vehicles. He extended his kindness, good humor, and quick wit to everyone he met. He is loved and will be missed by all.
He is survived by wife, Judy of the home; son, Kevin Fisher and wife Carrie of Olathe, KS; son, Brandon Fisher and wife Angie of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Cheyenne and Brody Fisher and Kaylee Dennis; sisters, Barb Stanfield and husband Jack of Colorado Springs, CO; and Virginia Gunter of Smithville, MO and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Martin Gunter. The family encourages contributions to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice, in his memory.
