Willadene "Sallye" Fix (Horton)

Willadene “Sallye” Fix, 94, Independence, MO passed away peacefully at Monterey Park Rehab Center where she has resided for several years. Graveside services at Hume Cemetery, in Hume, MO will be private. The family requests contributions to Great Plains SPCA, 21001 MO-78, Independence, MO 64057. Sallye was born May 20, 1921 in Goldendale, WA the middle child in her family. The family moved to Detroit when she was four years old and then to Hume, MO when she was nine years old after her father’s demise. She graduated from Hume High School then attended Southwest Missouri Teacher’s College in Springfield. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Hume and then at North Rock Creek Elementary in Independence, MO. She was married to Vernon “Nick” Fix in 1949 until his death in 2009. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Hume. Sallye followed her passion and became an antique dealer founding “Sallye’s Collectables”. She traveled, set-up for shows and also worked for several estate sale companies in the K.C. area for decades. She was one of the founding dealers of Things Unlimited in Westport and was a member of the K.C. Antique Appraiser Assoc., International Perfume Bottle Assoc., Antique Compacts Collector’s Club and the Fenton Glass Club. Sallye is survived by son Lyn Fix and wife Cleo, Blue Springs, MO; daughter Lorren Fix, Independence, MO; daughter-in-law Peggy Fix; grandsons Eric Fix and wife, Meghann; Rusty Fix, all of Grain Valley, MO.
