SERVICES WILL BE HELD 10:00 AM TUESDAY OCTOBER 28, 2003 AT THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF INDEPENDENCE. BURIAL IN MOUND GROVE CEMETERY. VISITATION WILL BE FROM 7:00 TO 8:30 PM MONDAY AT THE SPEAKS SUBURBAN CHAPEL. FAMILY SUGGESTS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF INDEPENDENCE, THE SALVATION ARMY�S CROSSROADS CENTER. BILL WAS BORN DECEMBER 12, 1925 IN EMPORIA, KS. AND LIVED MOST OF HIS LIFE IN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA. HE HAD WORKED FOR AMOCO OIL COMPANY AS A CHEMIST RETIRING IN 1987 AFTER 35 YEARS OF SERVICE. BILL WAS A NAVY VETERAN OF WWII. BILL WAS A FORMER QUEEN CITY BASEBALL COACH IN THE LATE 60�S TO EARLY 70�S, A MASTER BRIDGE PLAYER AND AN OUTDOORSMAN. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FOR THE PAST 48 YEARS AND IS THE CHAIRMAN OF TRUSTEES AND A MEMBER OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD AT THE CHURCH. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 51 YEARS MARJORIE A. POWELL OF THE HOME. 2 SONS AND DAUGHTERS IN LAW JOHN & ROBIN FLEMING OF SAVANNAH, MO., DOUG & LYNN FLEMING OF N. KANSAS CITY, MO. HIS DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW SUSAN & ED WILLIAMS OF COLUMBIA, MO. A BROTHER JOHN A. FLEMING OF LOUISBURG, KS AND A SISTER DORIS HORST OF YATES CENTER, KS AND 8 GRANDCHILDREN BECKY, AMY, CALLIE, DANIEL, KIMBERLY, JENNIFER FLEMING AND KRISTEN & BRETT WILLIAMS.
