Florence “Renee” Fletcher, 87, passed away on May 3, 2020, in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Renee was born on March 12, 1933 in Independence, MO, the daughter of George B. Allee and Florence Mary Chappelow Allee. She attended Northeast High School and graduated in the class of 1951. In 1953, she was crowned “Tip-Off Queen” for the National Intercollegiate Basketball tournament. She was rewarded a trip to New Orleans and presented a key to the city from the mayor. She married Ernest Fletcher in September of 1954. Renee had lived in Independence since 1965 and was an involved parent for all her children’s school years. She was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she was very involved in all church activities. Renee retired from US Department of Agriculture. She was an avid volunteer at the Community Service League and Harvesters Food Drop. She was active in her book club and loved to quilt. Renee will be remembered as a generous, caring heart, always eager to help anyone, and dearly loved by so many.
Renee was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 46 years, Ernest. She is survived by her four children, Lisa Agnew and husband Dan (Santa Fe, TX), Cindy Alexander and husband Greg (Shawnee, KS), John Fletcher and wife Diane (Independence, MO) and Tracy Noe (Lees Summit, MO), grandchildren, Amy Larner, Julia Squyres, Travis Short, Christa Schipper, Kelly Short, Sean, Fletcher, Shelby Fletcher, Brittany McClanahan, Logan Noe, Rowdy Noe, and 13 great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. A public memorial service in her honor will be announced at a later date.
