Kenneth Leslie Flowers, 76, Independence, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Monterey Park Nursing Center.
Mr. Flowers was born on Dec. 14, 1928, to Richard and Pearl Flowers in Thedford, Neb., and had lived in the Independence area most of his life. He had been a truck driver with Montgomery Wards, retiring in 1985. Kenneth was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed watching television and also feeding and watching wild life around his home. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and was an Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he had been a Pastor of Special Ministries Mission for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor Flowers of Independence; a son, Gary Flowers and wife, Patricia, of Cleyborne, Texas; three daughters, Vickie Bear of Independence, Connie Wellman of Lee's Summit, and Melody Hood of Blue Springs; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Jason, Angela, Kelly, Jeremy, Brett, Kristen, Tara and Trisha; eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Tucker, Alexis, Kennedy, James, Courtney, Kyla Nicole and Peyton; a brother, Robert Flowers of Independence; a sister, Mildred Durbin of Butler, Mo.; and two stepsisters, Ruth McGrath of Independence, and Vivian Silver of Boone, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, (816) 373-3600. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
