Robert (Bob) Richard Flowers, 88, passed to the next life on January 28. 2011, after a battle with renal cell carcinoma. Bob was a life long member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had been attending the South Chrysler Restoration Branch. He was an elder in the church and his ministry will be greatly missed. Bob was born October 28, 1922 in Cherry County, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Pearl Flowers and mother Pearl Ellen Smith Flowers, brothers Melvin Flowers and Kenneth Flowers and their spouses. Bob is survived by his wife, Norma K Birkby Flowers, his sons, Terry L Flowers and wife Brenda of Independence, Randy D Flowers and wife Cheri, of Grain Valley. He leaves five grandchildren, Margo E Flowers Frizzell and husband Matthew of Chicago, Jacquelyne S Burgess of Grain Valley, William R Flowers and wife Shawna of Cassville, Mo. Andrew J Flowers and wife April of Independence and Samuel A Flowers and wife Lona of Venice, Florida. He also leaves 14 great-grand children. His sister, Mildred Durbin, is still living in Adrian, Mo. at the age of 91. Bob was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard and sailed on the U.S Coast Guard Cutter Westwind. He also road horse back along the coast of our nation watching for any signs of an invading enemy. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, at South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 Salisbury Road, Independence, MO 64050.
