Bettyrae Fluke, 88, of Clinton, MO passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.
Bettyrae was born January 20, 1926 in Fulton, Co., IL the only child of Henry Jacob and Veda Mae Rock Zumstein. She grew up in Fulton County where she graduated from the Fairview, IL High School. She was married to Marvin Edwin Fluke on April 21, 1945 in Ellisville, IL. To this marriage was born two daughters, Emily and Elaine. Marvin preceded her in death on October 18, 2009 after 64 years of marriage. The family moved to Clinton, MO in 1958 where Marvin was employed by the Peabody Coal Company for 41 years.
Bettyrae is survived by her daughters, Emily and her husband Lee Ward of Independence and Elaine and her husband Charles Boten of Lee’s Summit; a grandson Blaine Edwin Ward and his wife Debbie of Belton, a granddaughter Betsy Ward of Independence; 6 great-grandchildren, Shelby and Jordan Bain, Emily, Jack, Brody and Bryce Ward.
Bettyrae was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church for 56 years where she was the Financial Secretary for 31 years. She and Marvin served as President of the Missouri Federation of Square Dancers. She was a talented artist and was a longtime member of the Lorna Kemper Club and the Seedling Garden Club of Clinton. She was active in many Bridge Clubs in Clinton for over 50 years and served as a volunteer for the Henry County Museum.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22 at the Clinton United Methodist Church with visitation from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Entombment will be at Carpenter Cemetery near Chilhowee, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Music Ministry of the Clinton United Methodist Church.
