Melba Lou (Martin) Forge
Melba Lou Forge passed away peacefully and surrounded by family feeling very loved on January 24, 2015. Melba Lou Martin was born in St. James, Missouri to Viola and Louis Martin. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in St. James where she made many life-long friends. She graduated from John F. Hodge in 1960 where she lettered in volleyball. She moved to Independence, Missouri when she was 18 where she had her children Michael and Michelle. She raised her children and made many friends on the block where she created her life. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Retail Clerk’s Association and a Member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She met her second husband, Jack Forge, fell in love and they were married on August 11, 1983. At this point, she welcomed Theresa, Mary, Molly, John and Rick Forge into her life as her children. They lived happily for many years. Her favorite pastimes included her 19 grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, her beloved husband, Jack Forge, her brothers: Ken and Keith Martin, her daughter, Mary Perrini and grandson, Garrett Thrasher. She will be missed by her children: Michael and Carrie Englert (Sibley, MO); Michelle and Kevin Adams ;Theresa Forge; Molly Forge all of Independence, MO; John Forge (Grain Valley, MO); Rick and Courtney Forge (Hallsville, MO); and Nick Perrini (Fairway, KS); 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was kind, loving and generous woman who imparted her wisdom on all of us and will be truly missed by many. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Road, Independence, Missouri 64055. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be rosary recited at 6:00 pm Wednesday evening at the church followed by visitation until 8:30 pm. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or to St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
