James W. Foster, 90, Independence, MO died March 22, 2019. Services will be 2 pm, Sat., March 30 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel.
James was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Koshkonong, MO and graduated from Marshall High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge from the service he worked for Western Union for over thirty-seven years until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Church of God in Independence where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed fishing and read the newspaper every day. He loved to write shorts stories and was published in the Independence Examiner.
James is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years Zelma Foster, of the home; daughter Lana Foster, Independence, MO and sister Geraldine Sykes, and husband John, St. Charles, MO.
