Dallas Byrne Fouts Sr. M.D. was born November 2, 1928 in New Albany, Indiana and died on December 11th, 2005 at home in Lee�s Summit, MO. Cremation is planned with a Memorial service to be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 2:30 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to John Knox Village Hospice. He resided with his wife Evelyn Kaiser Fouts, at John Knox Village, Lee�s Summit, MO. He was a member of the Lee�s Summit Congregation of The (Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) Community of Christ.
He attended Elementary and High School in New Albany, Indiana graduating in January 1947. He attended The University of Louisville and Indiana University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1951 and the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1954. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He served as a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1956-1963, in Iceland, Washington D.C., Indianapolis, Indiana and Independence, Missouri. He began a solo medical practice July 1961 in Independence, Missouri. The practice (Midwest Medical Clinics, Inc.) expanded to seven physicians when he retired in January 1995. During his medical career he held memberships on the Medical Staff of The Independence Regional Health Center (formerly The Independence Sanitarium and Hospital), the Medical Center of Independence, and St. Mary�s Blue Springs Hospital. He served as President of the medical staff of Independence Regional Medical Center 1976-1977 and was Chairman of the Department of Medicine and a member of the Executive Committee at both Independence Regional and The Medical Center of Independence. He served on the Board of Trustees for Independence Regional from 1968-1973. He held membership in the American Medical Association, the Missouri State Medical Association, The Metropolitan Medical Society, The American Society of Internal Medicine and The RLDS Medical-Dental Society. He was a member of the Church Medical Council for The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (1962-1974) and served as Chairman of that body for 6 years (1968-1974). He conducted a medical survey in South Korea for the RLDS Church and the Medical Council in 1969. He was as a member of The Standing High Council of the RLDS Church 1972-1990. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn K. Fouts, two fine sons and their wives, Dallas B. Fouts Jr. and Laurie, Lee�s Summit, Mo.; Duane B. and Pamela Fouts, Blue Springs, Mo., and their 3 daughters Rachel, Allison, and Lauren, Blue Springs, Mo.; An adopted Daughter and son-in-law Bill and Carol Haller and grandchildren Michael Haller and Krista and Jarvis Turkell, and his sister, Wanda Jane and Charles Bickel, Floyds Knobs, Indiana, and a host of friends.
