Ermil Kay Fraser (nee Ott), 83, a resident of Bristol Manor of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away December 25, 2020 in Blue Springs, Missouri, following a brief hospitalization. She was born in Emporia, Kansas, on January 9, 1937, to Emil and Mildred (Derbyshire) Ott. Her early years were spent on a farm near Burlington, Kansas, and later, on the family farm near Lamont, Kansas. She attended school through eighth grade at the one-room Lena Valley School near Lamont, riding her beloved horse Beauty almost two miles each way. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1955. She put herself through school at Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University) by working as a dental assistant and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught first grade in Madison, Kansas, before marrying John Fraser in 1958. After settling in Overland Park, Kansas, she taught first grade at Apache Elementary School for several years before the birth of her son John Fraser Jr. In addition to years as a homemaker she worked at the Overland Park Community Center's Leisure Services division. As a long-time resident of her Overland Park community, she was a devoted neighbor and friend to many.
Ermil was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Mildred Ott, and her former husband John W. Fraser.
She is survived by her son John, of Shawnee, Kansas; by brother Douglas Ott of Lone Jack, Missouri; by sister Karen Koerth of Evanston, Illinois; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
