Lisa Kay Freberg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 28, 1961 and passed away on November 3, 2022 in Blue Springs, Missouri, after an extended illness. Lisa grew up in Middletown, Ohio and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Graceland University in 1983. While at Graceland Lisa served in many leadership positions including house president and as Graceland Student Government President her senior year. Lisa earned a law degree from The Ohio Northern University in 1987.
During her professional career she held the position of Compliance Officer with banks in Ohio, Utah and Illinois. She moved to Missouri when her mother became ill in 2010. Lisa became very active in non-profit organizations including Community Services League and the Laurel Club. During the final years of the Laurel Club which operated out of the Community of Christ Auditorium, Lisa served as president. She followed in the footsteps of her maternal grandmother and great grandmother who also served as president of the Club. She was very active in her Colonial Hills Community of Christ Congregation.
Lisa was preceded in death by her brother Kent D. Freberg, and her mother, Karen Elliott Freberg. Lisa is survived by her father Dana D. Freberg, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Lisa will be greatly missed by her family and friends. You may leave messages for the family on her memory wall listed on the Speaks Funeral Home website, Independence, MO. There will be a private family interment, and there will be a visitation on Saturday, December 3, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Colonial Hills Congregation. A time for reflection will occur midpoint in the visitation.
