Leonard Joseph Frederick, 83, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Leonard was born February 9, 1930 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada the son of Leonard and Isabel (Major) Frederick. He retired from Sperry Vickers as transportation manger after 32 years. Leonard was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and camping with family. Leonard loved talking to people and always had something to say. He was preceded in death by his son, Leonard Alexander Frederick in 2001; grandson, Nicholas Frederick in 2000; sister, Evelyn Quinn and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Frederick of 47 years; children, Catherine Frankel and husband Randy, Kevin Frederick, Christopher Frederick and wife Lori, Jennifer Swearngin and husband Nick; grandchildren, Leonard, Autumn, Dylan, Jordan, Blake, Mariah, Addison, Sydney and Alexandria; sister, Carol Ann Meloche and five nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church; 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
