Richard Arthur Freeman, Jr., 69, of Kansas City, MO passed away Thursday, November 20th 2014. A graveside service will be held, with honors, on Wednesday November 26 at 10:00 a.m. in the Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, MO.
Rick was born January 22, 1945 in Independence, MO as one of three children to Ardyce (Brown) and Richard Arthur Freeman, Sr. He graduated from Van Horn high school and enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. On April 1, 1967 he married Katherine (Sholly) and together they had two children. He worked in many jobs including Ignition Interlock as a sales manager until retirement in 2005. Rick enjoyed swimming, reading, travel, sports, and his beloved dog Reagan. He is a life long member of the Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) Buckner Congregation as well as a Third Degree Mason of the Buckner Lodge, life members of VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion. His family remembers him as a sweetheart, funny, and a charming man who loved his kids. Rick is loved and will be missed.
He leaves behind wife, Kathy of the home; daughter, Richelle Seefeldt (Bill Adams) of Buckner, MO; son Richard Freeman III (Paulina) of Orange, CA; grandchildren Kodie, Kadie, and A.J. Seefeldt (Kat); great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Kaylynn, and Gunner; brother, Douglas Freeman (Christa) of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Douglas Arthur Freeman and niece, Paula Wilkes; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Patricia Sawyers. The family encourages contributions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or Disabled American Veterans in his memory.
