Minnie Ellen Fryatt, 89, of Independence, MO passed away October 26, 2012. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Suburban Chapel with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Minnie Ellen was born February 9, 1923 in Burrton, KS to Charles and Iowa Fay Saylor. She graduated with a teaching degree from Emporia State Teachers College, and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Central Missouri State University. Minnie Ellen retired from teaching in 1988. She was a loyal KC Royals fan, attending and listening to games for more than 30 years. Minnie Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William Oren Fryatt. She is survived by sons, Preston K. Fryatt and wife Sharon, Nolan D. Fryatt and wife Linda; stepsons, Robert Fryatt and wife Connie, Eugene Fryatt and wife Darlene; five grandchildren, Wendy, Tracey, Eric, Marcus and Christopher; and three great grandchildren, Lauren, Trenton and Alexis. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Special Olympics and St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
