Carol Mae Fuimaono, 79, passed away on January 25, 2023. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Independence Stake Center. A visitation will precede services from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A procession to Woodlawn Cemetery will follow the service.
Carol was born November 19, 1943, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to William and Katherine (Delker) Zimmer. While growing up on her family farm, Carol often spent time with the horses being raised there and still loved horses throughout her life. On December 11, 1965, Carol married Lafitaga Fuimaono and was blessed with many happy years and fond memories until his passing on April 13, 2010. As active members in their faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Carol and Lafitaga found their way to and took up residence in Missouri. Together, Carol and Lafitaga raised three boys and one girl and their family continued to grow as they watched their children marry and have children.
Carol’s grandchildren brought much joy to her life, and the time she spent with each of them is time she cherished as precious. She especially loved attending their symphonies, choir concerts, and watching them perform in musicals. Though she enjoyed the musical talents of her grandchildren, she held a special place in her heart for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll – Elvis Presley and was elated that her grandchildren were able to take a trip to see his home in Graceland. Carol was also surprised with a trip by her family to Branson, MO on her 78th birthday; a place she had always wanted to visit. Often when traveling, though, her favorite places to venture were those with white capped mountains covered in snow, which bestowed a sense of peace and serenity upon her. While not traveling, Carol enjoyed the simple things in life, such as word puzzles and games on her iPad.
Carol is survived by sons, Scott (MaryAnne), Tuli (Mary), and Nifo Fuimaono; and granddaughters, Talitha, Tamina (Jacob), Tessa, Taralei, Tanei, and Malia; and grandsons, Kohle, Hunter, Dru, Dylan, Malachi, Micah, and Noah Fuimaono. She is preceded in death by husband, Lafitaga Fuimaono; daughters, Sonya and Tia Fuimaono; and daughter-in-law, Ivalani Fuimaono.
