Malologa Amio Vaovasa Fuimaono, 82, of Independence, MO, died peacefully in her home on January 24, 2022, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Malologa was born to Uini and Amio Mapuolesega in Onenoa, American Samoa. She moved to San Francisco, California, where she met and married Maeli Lene Fuimaono. She went to high school, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Malologa worked in healthcare for quite some time, before moving to Missouri. For 15 dedicated years, she worked at DST before retiring. Her family will always remember Malologa as a woman who loved to laugh, cook and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be deeply missed. Malologa leaves behind to cherish her memory, 3 brothers; 4 sisters; 8 children; 40 grandchildren; and 62 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maeli Lene Fuimaono; mother, Amio Vaovasa; daughter, Paese Putman; and son, Maeli Lene Fuimaono III.
A visitation to honor Malologa will be held on Monday, January 31, from 9-10:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Malologa will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, MO.
