Zelva Marie Fulton, 96, died at Centerpoint Hospital on August 20, 2012. She was the wife of Reverend Dr. Ross A. Fulton who preceded her in death. Born in Jacksonville, TX, she was the last of ten children of Frank E. and Gertrie (Ewing) Hassell. She met and married Ross in Dallas, TX on Nov. 15th, 1940, and moved to Missouri supporting the Methodist ministry of her husband in many cities across the state. In retirement, Marie and Ross returned to Independence and were active in Christ United Methodist Church.
Marie leaves three surviving children, Patty Rogers (Richard) of Eagle Rock, PA. Rose Marie of Kansas City, and Ross Jr. (Melinda) of Branson. She joins her daughter Betty Lee Green (David) who preceded her in death. Marie leaves six grandchildren: Spencer Rogers (Denise), Bath PA. LeeAnne Clayberger (Damon) Atlanta, GA, Cora Fulton, Branson, Rachel Fulton, Carrollton, Elizabeth Fulton, Springfield, and Katherine Fulton, Branson and two great granddaughters: Kenley and Jenna Rogers, Bath, PA.
Marie was a 54-year member of P.E.O. and president of chapter KL. She was very active in United Methodist Women. She was also an avid seamstress and had a passion for gardening and music.
Celebration of Life Services will be Friday at 11:00 AM Friday, August 24, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church; 14506 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055, with visitation beginning at 10:00. Internment at Woodlawn Cemetery on Noland Rd., Indep. MO.
