Harriett was born to Earl and Geraldine Gibson on July 10, 1928 in Kansas City and was raised in Plattsburg, Missouri. She was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia. In 1950, she married Robert Gall of Lathrop, Missouri. They spent their married life in Kansas City and Independence, opening Strike n Spare Bowl in 1957 and running the business until 1984. The Galls were heavily involved in their church and in the hobby of barbershop quartet and chorus singing. Bob and Harriett both sang in various quartets and held national offices in the S.P.E.B.Q.S.A. and the Sweet Adelines, respectively. Harriett was a member of Sweet Adelines for over 50 years. She was chorus director of the international medalist Jacomo chapter of Sweet Adelines as well as the Twin Heritage chapter. In 1976 she led a delegation of Sweet Adelines on a singing tour to Poland, behind the iron curtain. She served as Regent of Region 7 of the organization. Harriett was a much sought after coach by quartets all over the Midwest. She is the only coach in barbershop history to have coached both a mens and a womens international championship quartet, the Rural Route 4 and the Hallmarks. With an avid interest in local history, Harriett served on the board of the Bingham-Waggoner Estate in Independence for many years. In her later years, Harriett lived with her cats at the Fountains at Greenbrier, surrounded by wonderful and supportive friends. She served on several residents councils and led Bible studies. Harriett was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Max Gibson, her sister Margaret Henneman, and her husband Bob. She is survived by three sons and their families: Joe Gall, his wife Ann, and children Adam, Zachary, Katie, and Matthew, all of Independence; Jeff Gall, his wife Susie, and children Rebecca and Micah, all of Kirksville; and Jim Gall and his wife Kelly of Seattle. She also leaves great-grandson Shaye, son of Adam. Perhaps most defined by her deep Christian faith, passion for music, and love of family, Harriett brought Christs love and harmony to her family and friends around the world. Her sons would like to thank her wonderful friends for the incredible support they gave their Mom in the last ten years.
