Betty J. Garcia-Yuran, 85, passed away on January 12, 2021 in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Betty was born on January 29, 1935 in Windsor, Missouri to Oren Greene and Lucille (Bohrn) Greene. She graduated from West High School and married Rafael Garcia on August 29, 1952. To their union six children were born.
Betty was a homemaker who loved to stay active. She liked to sew, knit, and paint, and one of her favorite activities was to get dressed up and go dancing to live music at the Moose Lodge #10 in Sugar Creek.
Her family remembers many road-trip vacations to El Monte and Newport Beach, California to visit family. The Garcia kids will pile in the back of the station wagon, with Rafael at the wheel and Betty navigating by road map. In her later years, her daughter-in-law Stephanie Garcia took her several times a week out shopping or even for a spur-of-the-moment ice cream treat.
Betty is survived by five children: Debra Lopez (husband Albert), Michael Garcia, Susan Butner (husband Jay), David Garcia (wife Stephanie), and Rafael Garcia; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rafael Garcia; son Gary Garcia; parents Oren and Lucille Green; and brother James Louis Greene.
Due to current conditions the family is holding a private graveside service in Brooking Cemetery.
Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor.
