Alvina Gardner, 86, of Independence, MO passed away August 16, 2016. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. followed by a 11:00 a.m. service on Wednesday, August 24, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Alvina was born January 5, 1930 in Kansas City, MO. She cared for foster children with William for 17 years. Alvina was also passionate for gardening, and was a member of the Garden Club of Independence. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Gardner; two children, June McKenzie of Independence and James O’Banion of Independence; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and five siblings.
