George C. Gardner, 76, Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away with his loving family by his side on February 20, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospice House. Visitation is at 9:30 AM followed by Mass at 11:00 AM, February 23, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 SW 150 Highway, Lee’s Summit, MO. Burial Services will be held in Junction City, KS at a later date. George was born December 10, 1939 in Junction City, KS to Carl and Genevieve Gardner. It was shortly after high school at the Junction City, KS municipal swimming pool that George met his future wife, Kathryn Lynne Trost. They dated off and on while Kathryn was in college and were married when George returned home from Vietnam. George was a proud Vietnam Marine Veteran. After his tour of duty he returned to Junction City to propose to his beautiful bride to be. After marriage, George and Kathryn took their young family and moved to Sugar Creek, MO where they established deep community roots. George worked as an independent business owner of G & K Home Repair; he later worked for Heartland Construction as the Superintendent of Construction Operations; and retired as the Building Official of Sugar Creek, MO. Survivors include; wife of 51 years, Kathryn Lynne Gardner; sons Carl, Jeffrey and Kent Gardner; Daughters in law Beth Gardner, Jeanna Gardner; Grandchildren Curtis, Kathryn, Sara Jane, Genevieve, Nathan, Megan, Noah; and sister Barbara Miller.
