Johnny Ray “John” Gardner, a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was 49. John was born to Bobby and Patricia Gardner on December 20, 1971 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
After graduating from Forrest Park High School in 1990 John continued his education at Armstrong Atlantic State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and worked as a deputy sheriff for the McIntosh County Sheriff’s department for several years. It was during that time that John found and married his best friend, Carrie. They created 23 years of blissful memories together. John was an avid sports fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams the Kansas City Chiefs and the Georgia Bulldogs. John enjoyed traveling with his family, watching wrestling, phone games and spending time with his family and friends. John was very outgoing, never met a stranger and his witty sense of humor will be missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carrie; sons, Dane and Eli Gardner; father, Bobby Gardner (Becky); brother, Richard Perry; pops, Wes Turner, numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws.
John was preceded in death by his mom, Patricia Turner.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-3pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. John’s memorial service will begin at 3pm. The service will be livestreamed as well. The family has asked that you dress casually and wear KC Chiefs or Georgia Bulldogs attire.
