Leonard Alvin Gardner, 85, of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. A visitation will be held from 10-11am, Friday July 17th with a Celebration of Life following at 11:00am both at East Side Baptist Church, 19901 MO-78, Independence, MO 64057. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City.
Leonard was born November 16, 1934 in Cross Timbers, MO to Bernie Andrew and Nona Bell (Coon) Gardner. He was employed by the Sears & Roebuck Co. for 38 years and also spent time working for Pro Star Sports and the Independence School District. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and East Side Baptist Church. Leonard loved sports, going to the lake, fishing and his church, East Side. Most of all, he loved his family and he will be greatly missed by all.
Leonard is survived by his beloved wife, Gerrie; his children, Cheryl (Clem) Hoelscher of Pleasant Hill, Dixie Cragg of Blue Springs, Lenny Gardner of California, Dan (Leslie) Schick of Blue Springs, and Darrell (Pam) Schick of Lee’s Summit; grandchildren, Clem (Carrie) Hoelscher, Sarah (James) Lawler, Blair Cragg, Kelsey Cragg, Miya Gardner, Brad Schick, Kristy (Tyler) Parrish, Hailee Schick, Taylor Schick, and Abby Cook; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Allie, Gavin, Holt, Raylan, and Ophelia; his brothers, Walt (Phyllis) Gardner of Olathe, KS and Art Gardner of Springtown, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Norma Parrot.
