LELAND PAUL “LEE” GARNER
Leland Paul “Lee” Garner, 71, passed away on May 30, 2020 in Independence, MO.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 12-1pm, with memorial service to follow at 1pm, both at Speaks Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor.
Lee was born on December 19, 1948, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Arthur Lee Garner and Nona Mae (Jacoby) Garner. He was a graduate of Northeast High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Marsha Herrmann and to this union was born a daughter.
For 40 years, Lee was a parts counter man for Cable Dahmer Chevrolet. He was a member of the UAW as well as the Moose Lodge #10 and the VFW Posts #1000 and #3976.
Lee was a car man, through and through. He enjoyed auto racing, especially his 1963 Impala two-door hardtop, with some Beach Boys blasting through the speakers, of course! He loved watching football or just being in the company of his friends. He was honest, and never felt compelled to sugarcoat anything.
Lee is survived by his wife Marsha Garner; his daughter Michele Cook; his grandchildren Taylor Dickneite and Leeanne Cook; his great-grandchildren Kinsley Rose and Carleen Delphine; and many friends.
