Lonnie Frederick Garrett

Lonnie F. Garrett, 96, of Independence, MO passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020. A private graveside will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Lonnie was born May 14, 1923 to Lonnie and Clara Garrett. In May of 1944, Lonnie married Anna Teresa Leone. They spent 74 wonderful years together before her passing in December of 2018. Lonnie proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Independence. He worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad for 47 years retiring as a traffic manager.
Lonnie will be remembered as warm and quiet and enjoying time spent with his family.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Anna; and his sister, Mima. He is survived by his son Larry Garrett and daughter-in-law Irene of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Laura Dorsch and husband Stephen, Lonnie J. Garrett and wife Nicki; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Christian Dorsch, Olivia and Jillian Garrett; sister-in-law, Lillian Belfonte; as well as nieces and nephews, Jo Marie Stewart, John Belfonte and his wife, Rosie, David Belfonte and his wife, Kristie, and Henry Belfonte and his wife, Carol Jo.
